Cost wise, the eSpring Water Purifier will be around $600. While the price may seem high, you’re actually saving money in the long run. This unit actually cleans the water through steam/distillation. The removes almost all of the impurities from the water. Distillation alone does not effectively remove VOC’s (Volatile Organic Contaminants). VOC’s include dangerous pesticides and solvents.

This unit filters does filter minerals which may be beneficial for your health.

The Mini-Classic water distillation system run around $600. Operation includes manually cleaning the boiling chamber with a residue cleaner, as well as changing out filters. This can cost around $100 a year.

PUR 3-State Faucet Mount Water Filter

This 3-Stage filtering system reduces close to 28 potential contaminants and over 99% of microbial cysts.

It does retain fluoride within the water.

This PUR 3-Stage system is a pretty affordable system. If you’re looking for a budget system and you can’t afford any of the systems above, it may seem like a good deal. Don’t let the cheap price fool you! Every year, you’ll be spending over $330 on water filter replacements based on typical consumption.

Brita Grand Counter Pitcher

This only has a carbon filter, primarily for taste and odor. It removes lead, mercury, and copper. No claims of microorganism removal is made, nor does it mention anything about preserving mineral content.

Based on our research, the first year of use will cost close to $280, which includes filter replacement. After the 1st year, annual costs will be over $260 based on typical water consumption.

We hope that this review has been informative. When buying a counter top water filter system, you have to take everything into consideration. While a system may be affordable up front, ongoing usage costs and contaminant removal must be considered.
